The newest Track for Tropical Storm Issac is directly through the Keys. We are in Key West. But the Marina we are at is a very safe one. Considered somewhat of a Hurricane hole.
We Spent the day yesterday adding extra lines to the Blue Heaven. She is spider webbed off in the slip here at A and B marina in Key West. We took all the clear plastic curtains down off of the bridge. Every hatch and door is sealed with tape to help stop water intrusion and to keep them from blowing open. The weather yesterday was nice. We were able to help all the other boats here at the marina do the same thing. Talk on the dock all day was about preparation and when the storm will hit here not if.
The weather channel has their reporters running all over the island. They can be such idiots. It is funny to watch them cover things that they think are important. Stephany Abrams has been standing down at the Southern Most Point tourist attraction for 2 days now. Nothing going on there. All the activity is down here around the Bight.,
All of Key West Bight is full of charter boats and sail charters. The entire Bight was bustling with activity as everyone Battened down the hatches. I am glad we did all of our prep yesterday. But its still going to be a busy day. You will find that in marinas everyone tends to help everyone. It is a tight knit community.
This morning dawned with a big squall line lined up the entire length of the keys. The rains were blowing sideways and coming down like a cow peeing on a flat rock. It is not directly related to Tropical Storm Issac, But the squalls are pretty rough.
. We have all day today now to just sit and watch the weather.
