Island hopping

The past few days were awesome. We took the boat down to Tortola and hung out. Tuesday night was the full moon. There is a place on Tortolas north shore called the Bomba Shack that has a big full moon party each month. The shack is a conglomeration of old drift wood and debris that has washed ashore over the years. In its earlier years, The shack was a place where surfers gathered to hang out with locals. But as the years went by, it became more of a tourist attraction. One of the things that is special about the place is the fact that they pour mushroom tea to all the guests. They wait till about 11 pm when everyone is drunk then they all think they feel something when they drink it. I was poured a cup but dumped it out. It looked like dirty water and smelled like earthworms. But I did end up with a souvenir cup.
The next day was spent snorkeling and swimming before we went to the harbor at St John for the 4th of July fire works. After all it just would not have been right to be in British waters on the 4th of July. The Fireworks display was quite impressive. We we anchored only 150 yards away from the barge where they lit them off from. Wow it was beautiful. After that we ran back to Tortola to Sopers hole and spent the night there.
The marlin bite has still been a bit slow. But it is not just here. I am hearing reports from all over the southern Bahamas of the bite being slow. Cap Cana is the only place that seems to still be getting a steady bite.
I have the family coming in today. I am so excited to show them around here. They have never been to the Virgin islands before so it should be a great experience for them. In the next few days I will be having each of my kids write a Blog while they are here. Should be interesting to see their points of view and how they describe things.
