Fishin and cruisin ( Lots of pics and Vids)

When you dont fish for a week or so, ya tend to get a little antsy. By the time the boss rolled in this week were ready to go.
We fished yesterday. There were 8 boats from the marina out fishing. Everyone pounded the North drop pretty hard. There were very few fish seen. In fact there were only 3 blue marlin caught by the visiting sportfish boats. We were one of the three. We had a 200 lb blue jump on our teaser then eat the right long rigger bait. Mike Amo was on the rod quick and did a great job. The fish initially went nuts and jumped all over. But then it sounded and Mike had to slowly work the fish back up. It was Mikes first Blue marlin. I love being there for someones first blue. Mike was not the only angler on the North drop to get their first though. Capt. Dave on the Chach had his girlfriend Rainie on the rod for her first blue as well yesterday. A short while later she fought a big 500 lb blue marlin for an hour and a half. But the fish came off. To bad.
We are fishing the Blue marlin Open tournament this weekend. So today we decided to go island hopping. We began by going to Tortola and clearing in with customs for the British Virgin Islands ( BVIs). Then we took the boat to Jost Van Dyke and anchored at the beach in front of " the Soggy dollar" There were lots of sailboats there and lots going on. The beach there is spectacular. I have added a few pics and a video to this blog below. From there, we ran the boat to Normans Island and the bar boat Willy T's. All the guys had their fair share of Pain Killers. The pain Killer is the drink to have there. While there, there was all kinds of goings on. Nothing bad, but not your average day at sea. At one point the local Police boat pulled up to Willy T's. We all thought something was wrong. NOPE! He just tied up to have a few Pain Killers. Only in da islands mon!
From there, We made for Virgin Gorda. It is the most easterly island in the BVI's. We tied up at YCCS yacht club.  Near Bitter End. It is very nice. The view from our back deck looking east towards the sunset was outstanding. I think I found the spot where Kenny Chesney must have been standing when he wrote the lyrics " there a beautiful view of the end of the world from the pier".
Tonight we had the pleasure of going to a little island for dinner. The dockmaster here at YCCS is Jersey. He is a very nice guy. He gave us a ride to Sabo rock island. You can only get there by boat.   I could sit here all night trying to describe this place...  Its nothing more than a 100 yard across rock island with a bad ass restaurant and a few rooms. Go to this sight and check it out. http://www.sabarock.com/index.php  Once again its hard to describe it. The food was great and the few spectacular. The water around dock there is very clear. there are underwater lights lining the docks. Swimming around the lights are dozens of big tarpon and jacks. It is quite the sight to see. Tomorrow we are going to get up early and run north about 17 miles just past the island of Anagada. There we will start fishing our way back towards St Thomas. Hope it is as good a day tomorrow as it was today.
