Pepe' still partying till the day light hours. |
The sun rose this morning just as the din of the thumping music from the " White Party/ Easter festivities" that just ended. The dominicans sure know how to party. Samana Santo or Saints week, is the week of Easter. Basically the island shuts down for a week. It is a time for families to gather and party and celebrate the easter holiday. I don't think most of you reading this can comprehend how big this holiday is on this island. Imagine Thanksgiving and all the eating that goes along with it, then throw in christmas and all the family gathering that goes with it , then throw in new years and all the partying that goes with it…. Bundle all those holidays together and you still do not amount to Samana Santo here in the Dominican Republic. Last night there was a big party in Casa de Campo. It raged all night long.It did not really get going until 11pm and it lasted till 6:30 this morning. I for one was in bed last night by 10 pm. Im to old for that kinda party.
As the song goes " I aint as good as I once was, But Im As good once, as I ever was…..50… The five zero, The Big one, Half a century, over the hill. Call it what you want, It happens in 2 days for me. Yes its just another day. I hope to fish all day on Tuesday then eat dinner and go to bed and fish the next day. That my friends would be the best 50th B-day ever. I have had numerous people ask me over the last week whats it like turning 50. I don't really know how to answer. I still don't need Geritol, I don't where Depends, I have never eaten one of those male performance pills that always seem to be advertised on TV right about dinnertime. I do have to take blood pressure pills because I m a fat ass., My body is still healing from a softball game three weeks ago, I use to work hard all day, now I just tinker all day, but other than that. I feel the same. Just another sunny day in the caribbean to me.
Fishing had slowed down on the past full moon. boats were only catching 1 blue marlin a day. But now the fishing is picking back up as it is suppose to with the waining of the moon. The Full moon here really plays games with the fishing. As it fades the fish seem to bite better and better. Boats are seeing more and more fish each day. We start back at it tomorrow. Today we got the cabin cleaned and tomorrow we will tinker with the tackle to make sure its all in order. Looking forward to a month of great fishing. The boats coming in today posted up bigger numbers. Most boats caught between 3-5 blues and saw 4-7 fish. I will post lots of fish pics in the next Blog.
