Its been a fun week. Lots of happenings.
My birthday was last Monday. I was surprised by a surprised birthday party at the yacht club. The cake and Empanada bar and everyone involved were outstanding. One of the dock attendants from the marina free handed the invitations that were given out to all the boats. Thank you to everyone involved.

To many candles so they just stuck a flame and spark shooting roman candle out of the cake |
Fishing has been good. There are not to many places one can go and get at least 3 or four shots at Blue marlin on a slow day. One boat caught 11 a few days ago. Our best day was yesterday. we caught 4 out of five blue marlin that we hooked. then our day was cut short when one our outrigger clips got fouled as a big dorado ate the lure. The line came tight and the outrigger bent before the line broke. We had a 25 degree bend in our outrigger. Things like this always seem to happen on Friday afternoons. It was 4:15 and we were out of cellular range. We picked up and hauled ass into cell range. We were going to have to replace a section of our outrigger. I got ahold of Drew McDowel at Palm Beach Towers. He did not bat an eye. He got right on it. He had one of the guys from Pipewelders get the parts I need and he delivered them to the airport in Ft Lauderdale. Our plane with guests on board is flying in today and will stop there and pick up the parts. Whew! Drew you are awesome for taking care of us like this.
Tyler caught his first Blue Marlin a few days ago. I was so happy for him. He's really working out as a great deck hand and has become a true friend. Now if I could just get him to finish a load of his laundry when when he starts it.
Looks like we are going to fish a few more days here, then at the end of next week we are going to head to Cap Cana for a bit then to Samana to explore the waters there. Its going to be exciting to fish around Samana. I think the area hold potential. Could be wrong .....
Today we have The Bartles and Jaymes brothers flying in to fish with us. Those boys are always a riot to have on board. When they arrive silliness soon ensues.
I have spoke before of the commercial fishermen that are plying the waters where we are fishing for Blue marlin. We get along with most of them. We are fishing in their waters around their FADS. We give them dorado and other small fish we catch and float bags of sodas and snadwiches when we can. they appreciate the gesture..... most of the time. There is one crazy guy out there that yells and screams and flails all about if you get within a quarter mile of his little panga boat. Lately he has developed a new strategy That I am sure would make his mother proud. He pulls along side of an american boat and takes off all his clothes. This guy is nuts. I had heard on the VHF radio about him but had not encountered him till a few days ago. He pulled along side and dropped his pants and all the while screaming and yelling. We got some video of it. But I refuse to watch it. I would rather stick a screw driver in my eye than to see that again. He gives all new meaning to Full moon fishing in the Dominican Republic.
