Marlin Karma

Me in my best no sun attire
We fished yesterday. It was nice to get back out there. The seas started out a bit rough, But laid down from 5-7' to 2-4' as the day progressed. The morning was a bit slow. We did pull the hooks on a Blue Marlin early and then had a mystery bite that I think was a blue. As the day went on, the mahi mahi seemed to get more and more plentiful. Nearly every FAD had them on it. Around noon, we caught a small Blue Marlin. The smaller ones here seem to fight harder and more dirty than the larger ones.
A couple hours later and a bunch of Mahi bites later, I saw a Commercial Panga sitting on a FAD. I had Kyle tie a gallon jug to a peice of mono. the other end he tied a hook. When we went by the Panga, we hooked one of our dead Mahi on the jug and floated it to the Panga fishermen as a gift. It was very good Karma. No more that 5 minutes went by when we hooked up on double Blue Marlin. One was big and the other small. After about 10 minutes, the smaller fish pulled the hooks. But the larger fish stayed tight. We did release it. We ended up 2 for 4 on Blues.

Being the dark side of the moon, my hopes were not to bright for a great day of fishing. We did not have the numbers the boats were catching during the full moon, but anywhere you can go and catch two Blues a day is good.
