For the last week, we have been traveling south with out the boss on board. Kyle and I were lucky enough to have some great fishing along the way. The marlin bite has been good to us and the Mahi have been plentiful. Being a faithful and good employee ( tongue in cheek) Each marlin we caught brought a phone call or text to the boss. I knew that it would drive him nuts that we were having great fishing, And I should not have bragged........... But That is not me. LOL So after enduring all of my fishing reports the boss finally flew in Friday. We fished a few hours and targeted Wahoo and mahi. We had a great afternoon of fishing. The next today I told him, we are going marlin fishing. We left the dock at 7:30 and headed south to French bay. We deployed the lures and 10 minutes had not passed when a hot Blue marlin came up on the left flat line. It came on the teaser first then started attacking the lure. It must have bit 6 times before the hooks found home. It was not a giant by any means but a Blue Marlin none the less. I would love to show the video but the internet is to slow to load it. We did get attacked by some nice mahi as well today. We also caught a 50 lb wahoo. The troll bite slowed a bit around noon, so we did some deep dropping. We caught a nice box of Yellow eye and Black snapper. The boss was as happy as I was that he got his first Blue marlin of the season. I was even happier.
Tonight we went to the driftwood bar at riding rock for a cocktail at sunset. It was really just the boss Kyle me and Peaches there. we had conch fritters and a few adult beverages. We said our good byes as we are departing in the morning for a few day trip to the turks and Caicos. Before leaving, I scored a big chunk of rum cake. We had it after dimmer tonight.
Tomorrow we are heading down island even further. We only have to make 200 miles to the Turks and Caicos. But we are planning on stopping two different nights at uninhabited islands along the way. As long as the drug smugglers and pirates leave us be, we should fare well.lol
But that also means not internet for the next 48 hours. So when you see the next blog, it will be a long one.
I look forward to the anchoring out. We will be nestled behind deserted islands. There will not be another man made light for 70 miles in any direction. The stars will be great. I look forward to just sitting on the back deck and contemplating life and nothingness and everything else in between. Very tranquil and peaceful.
