Great friends and swordfish steaks

One fine old specimen floating at Palmia
While the boss is away the mice will play… The past two weeks have been filled with road trips and fun filled boat trips.
Most people come to the locations we go to and never leave the marina unless it is to go fishing.
I had some local friends take me on a trip to a bar near Boca Chica thats on the water that has a view people pay big money for. Ive done a few road trips to places like Bayahibe and Dominicus and done a few trips in a friends 36 foot Yellowfin out to Sanoa island and Palmia. Its ashamed that so many crews never take the time to do these things or see these places. We had a blast free diving the reefs. there was not much to shoot, but the reef was pretty. The beach at Dominicus is very pretty and there are local places that will serve you food right on the beach. Its had to beat eating a whole fresh yellowtail snapper with plantains on the beach. Just one note on this. Always have them bring out the fish before its cooked so you can choose what fish you want. if not your liable to get a nasty old parrot fish on your plate.

The fishing slowed up a bit ( for here ). Instead of catching 2-7 fish a day, most boats are only catching 1-3 blue marlin a day. Thats great fishing elsewhere but sow for here. The reason is probably the coming full moon. The bite should turn back on and the numbers will go up after the moon begins to wane.
Super clear waters accented by palm lined beaches
A few boats have been going sword fishing. In fact yesterday there was a nice 375 lb swordfish caught by the Contango. and there were 4 other swords caught on other boats.  The fish are being caught 9 miles to the south of the marina in 1700 feet of water and are being caught day and night.

I had some friends and Katy fly in for the past weekend.  We spent most of the time exploring Bayahibe and swimming off of a boat we borrowed from a good friend of mine. There was lots of sun and rum. Its nice to have great friends to share this place with.
The boss comes in this week and we will begin fishing again. Looks like for once, his timing on the moon and fishing should be great.
