Feeling welcome and at home in Casa De Campo.

imgres.jpg
The last few days have been filled with preventative maintenance, cleaning and waxing. its been good to treat this girl right for a few days. She sure shows her appreciation with a shine.
Casa de Campo has really stepped up their means to make boats feel welcome here. Vilma Nunuez works in marketing for the marina and has done a great job. She has gone out of her way to make us feel welcome.  Her promotions all are aimed at making the crews and owners feel more welcome and appreciated here.   One of the things that they are now offering is a complimentary membership to the yacht club. This is a great thing. The yacht club itself is very nice. It has nautical paintings and ship models all over it. It does not have the stuffy feel that some yacht clubs can have, yet it is very classy. The club has lots of dark rich wood and it just feels like a place where crews and owners can hang out after a day on the water. The prices for adult beverages are less than most places in the complex and the full bar boasts a big screen tv that always has some kind of sports on. If you want to keep up on things happening here at the marina, go to this link. They seem to keep up with the fishing and events planned for CDC ( Casa De Campo) http://casadecampomarinanews.com  www.casadecampomarinanews.com        imgres.jpg
Last night we ventured to the yacht club were met there by Jesmine Botello,  Vilma Nunez  and Josie Gonzalvo ( Director General  for MCDC) They all made us feel very welcome and are eager to get input from us as to how our stay can be better. They have made us feel like we have been here all along. Vilma has done a great job of promoting the marina and it shows in the numbers of boats here.
When we arrived last night the world baseball championship game between Puerto Rico and the US was on. They are fanatical about their base ball here. It was a close game and Puerto Rico won. The island pride was very apparent. Vilma was very animated about the game. I kept moving things  away from here that she could hurt someone with. Today at 1 pm the Dominican Republic plays against Puerto Rico. We are all meeting at the yacht club again for the game. It   should be exciting to   watch the game as well as the fans at the club. Im going to cheer for Puerto Rico just to be the odd man out.
The Shark Byte is the only boat fishing here right now out of 7 american boat here. They are expecting around 17 boats here in the next few weeks.  They fished the last two days and caught two Blue marlin each day. They saw multiple other fish. Most of the other boats like us are awaiting the full moon in a weeks time. The fish will fire up as the moon gets full.
