We departed San Juan this morning early and trolled for a few hours to no avail. The water turned to a dirty green so we picked up and ran east to just off of Culebra. Culebra is a small island that lays half way between puerto Rico and st Thomas. We did have one blue marlin eat one of our teasers but never would eat a lure. We decided to anchor up on the west side of Culebra for the night before fishing the rest of the way to st Thomas tomorrow. The anchorage here is very pretty and protected.
We all had a good swim and snorkel this afternoon. The reef here is very pretty. After our swim, we got out the paddle board as well. Everything here has been so picture perfect. The day ended with a spectacular sunset. I tried to post a video of it, but the potatoes boiled over on the stove and made a big mess. Oh well there will be plenty more sunsets to share. Once again. Sunsets are " special " an my favorite part of the day.
I am sitting here tonight on the bridge of the blue heaven. It is so dark as the moon has not risen yet. To the west you can see the glow of the lights on puerto Rico. There are a scarce few lights on the sailboats moored here in the cove. The stars are bright and dazzling. Other than the light drone of our generator, I can here the waves swishing through the rocks a few hundred yards away. It's very peaceful. Funny thing how your different senses react. Earlier the colors of the water and the contrast of the lush jungle on the island seemed like the only thing noticed. It was a scene that the best artist around could not paint. But now there is only darkness and the occasional clink of a halyard on the sailboats and the waves doing their thing.
Tomorrow we will fish our way to st Thomas and Red Hook marina.
All for now, heading down to get a glass of the USDA American milk we got at Costco in San Juan. Man I missed good milk.
