Cabrone

pics dont show it but that is a 1000 foot cliff
Departed Ocean World yesterday. We ran east along the north coastline of the Dominican republic.  The view was great. The rain veiled mountains seemed to drop straight off into the sea. At times there we waterfalls dropping off the cliffs coming directly out of this jungle. Once we reached the NE tip of the Dominican Republic, The shear cliffs were even more dramatic The granit walls shot straight up 1000 feet and had caves riddled all throught the face. At Cabo Cabrone. ( Yes that really is the name of the point) There is a shear cliff that must stick up 1500 feet. There is a giant arch way on the cliff about 200 feet tall. There are birds flying all over it and Kyle and I said it reminded us of either the scene in Jurasic park when they fly in on a helicopter, or King Kongs island. Sorry the pis can not and will never do it justice.
Spectacular
Just past Cabo Cabrone we saw a giant splash as a wright whale breached in front of the boat. Yes just like in that met life commercial. then we saw a large pod on the surface spouting. It was Kyles first time seeing whales close up like this. I slowed the boat so as not to hit them and kyle did his best with excited hands to video them. They were about 60-70 feet in length and very majestic. Unfortunately  they went back down before we could get out the harpoon. Just kidding. We made Cap Cana at 5 pm. There are about 9 American boats fishing here. Most boats today caught 3-4 white marlin. the mahi seem to be here in numbers as well.
We are got here last night and are leaving at 7 am to fish our way the rest of the way around to Casa de Campo. We only have 70 miles to go and Hope to catch a blue one along the way.
I better get going for my run now though so we can get away early. next blog from Casa de Campo.
