Paintball

Click on this you tube for what I was listening to while I wrote this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjED-cQWGLM
Last night was our first night in a few days where we knew we would not have to get up in the morning. It was St patricks day in the Bahamas. One would think that Kyle and I would have been out having fun all night. HA  I was in my bunk at 9:30. We got in to Nassau yesterday and cleaned the boat up. I used the fish we caught for a few favors and a tab at the Green Parrot.  I also parlayed a couple of Atlantis passes with a bag of fish.  So we had a few adult beverages at the Green Parrot. The Green Parrot is a bar at Hurricane Hole marina. It is part of Atlantis but it is set aside and adjacent to Atlantis. There was a little St Patricks day celebrating at the Parrot last night. One of the funniest things to see is a bunch of Bahamians all decked out in Leprican hats and partying like Irishmen. It Is kind of like watching a bunch of Chinese folks celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
Sunrise facing east out of Nassau Harbor. Hurricane hole Marina to the left
This morning I was surprised to find myself wide awake at 5 am. I slipped on the jogging shoes and decided to run the Bridges. Atlantis and the marina where I am at is on Paradise island. It is an island on the north side of Nassau. Joining those two islands are two steep sky bridges. I took off at a trot and actually made the entire first bridge running. But the second bridge was a different story. (I am an over weight old  man) I was so glad to see the down hill side of the second bridge. Especially after slipping twice on the rain slicked metal grates. The sunrise from the second bridge was amazing though.
When I got back from the run/ stumble/ walk, I found that the seagulls had all decided to take in the sunrise sitting on the bow of the Blue Heaven. I scattered them But in their departure they destroyed the bow of the boat. it looked like a Paintball war had been waged up there.
Looking towards the Nassau commercial docks
Now I am sitting on the dock enjoying the sun as it dries my sweat and rain soaked stumbling clothes. The water here in Nassau is sooooo clear in the harbor. It is nearly translucent but it is clear yet blue and cool yet warm at the same time. I will find the words one day to describe it. As I look across the channel to the Nassau side. The commercial docks are busy as the lobster and conch boats all hurry to leave the dock to go ply the waters. The Mail boats are also steady loading. Mail boats as they are called are actually mini island freighters. Nassau is the main hub where all the big ships bring in food and supplies from the US. Then the Mail boats distribute all of it to the smaller out islands. Years ago that is also how the mail and communications were transported from island to island.
There is a steady stream of charter boats leaving the harbor. They are full of tourist excited about the chance of big fish. You can feel the energy pulsing around the harbor as the activities pick up. Soon the big dive and snorkeling charters will be sliding by as they head down to Rose island to dump as many as 100 tourist in the water at a time from each boat.
Going to head over to Nassau this morning and see if Lightbourn marine has a spot light bulb that will fit ours. Then We are going to go to Atlantis and see the aquariums. We may click off a few more Latitudes southward tomorrow. Looks like the winds increase through the middle of the week. Will just be taking it day to day right now.
