Orchids

I am sitting at the cancun airport. I spent the drive back to airport this morning reminiscing to my self of all the great times I have had in Mexico. It is amazing to see how the area has grown. Years ago when I first came here the developments were just getting started. Now as I drive the highway tourism and industry bustle. Not many years ago I would go with a friend here and trek into the jungle In search of orchids. Now there are gates where the roads are. Oh well time rolls on.
The past few days were great though. I took Patrick and Jeff to all the destinations that they will need to know when they have guest in town. On Saturday. We fish on a local charter boat for a few hours. Our goal was to let the boys see pa from the water. But we ended up catching a nice wahoo and missed sailfish. Saturday night we went to my friends house out in the jungle. It was a great party and was the perfect place to reconnect with old friends.
Yesterday. I gave the boys the road trip tour. We started at 9 am an headed south to the Mayan ruins at Coba. On the way we stopped and saw a friends monkey. Jeff was scared of it. Then we did the ruins at Coba. Patrick and Jeff both climbed to the top of the rain temple. Jeff was scared. Afterwards weave our way back to the coast and to Casa cenote. There we had greAt Mexican food and then went for a dip in the cenote (spring). Jeff was scared again when I showed him a place where you could swim thru some holes in the rocks and come out into the cenote. He maned up and did it. Patrick on the other hand was just afraid of the margaritas. We made a stop at la buena vida then headed to the cenote at kantun chi. Jeff mustered up the courage and Patrick finall stopped complaining about the cold water and we explored the caverns there.
Last night after that full day, we all three found ourselves sitting on the balcony as the sun set listening to Kenny chesney turned down low. To me that was one of the best moments of the week end.
I'm gonna miss PA this year and especially all the close friends I have there. But the baton has been passed. PATrick and Jeff will bring their boats in to pa this season and with all that I showed them this weekend I this they will have a great season.
As for me.... I will be back to PA. I bet there is one or two orchids left to discover.
