Reasoning with hurricane season.

Fantasy fest is in full swing. The crowds have grown despite the threat of bad weather. All the captains on the dock have had their cell phones ringing constantly from owners and guest worried about  Hurricane Rena. As well we are all getting calls from those concerned about us. As a captain on a boat, you have to be part weather forecaster. Unfortunately there were quite a few boats that canceled due to the threat. To bad. It looks like the storm will batter the Yucatan in the next 36 hours and then veer this way. But It should not effect us till late Sunday or early Monday.

The freak show down town is hilarious. A few of the more tame pictures that I have taken are attached. Yes that is nothing but paint on the lady in the first pic. There are soooo many that I just can not post. While they are just wild paint jobs, I dont want to post anything too salacious.

Last night all the crews Ate Lobster and Lobster bisque made from the lobster we have caught here. After dinner we did walk down to Duval street for about an hour. It was packed. Capt Tonys Bar was the center of the menagerie last night. Sometimes the best thing to watch is the expressions on tourists faces as they walk through the crows of people dressed up and dressed down. I think last night I heard " oh my God and I have never seen anything like this in my life". Then there is the poor mom and dad that had no idea that this was going on. They walk down the street trying to shield their two children's eyes as they wind down the crowded sidewalks.

I am very concerned about all my friends in Puerto Aventuras Mexico. It looks like they will take a big hit from Rena. Any of you in Puerto Aventuras that read this, PLEASE contact me during and as soon as possible after the storm clears. My prayers are with you.

On a lighter note. One of the deck hands was walking on Duval street two nights ago and came upon a woman dressed as a Dominatrix. He asked if he could try to crack her whip in the air. She said Yes and she laughed. She went to show him how, and he taunted her by sticking his butt out a little. She gave him a little crack. He laughed and told her" Is that all You got"..... Big mistake on his part. She hauled back and let it rip. The next morning he showed all the guys on the dock his butt cheek. He had some serious welts. Oh well..... if your gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough.
